Rooted in the family’s spice and provisions trade, a knowledge of ingredients—the instinct for choosing, understanding and handling them well—was carried from one generation to the next.

THE IDEA OF MAMA RAM
This inheritance was reimagined through a curiosity for the world’s kitchens, literature and stories. Mama Ram’s recipes—and the language surrounding them—began to take shape.

Mama Ram opened its jars in Moda: a small shop where spices are roasted and ground, and teas and singular recipes are blended in small batches.

of Curiosities
At Mama Ram, the world’s kitchens, literature, history and popular culture share the same shelf. Sometimes the title of a novel becomes a tea; sometimes an explorer’s chance encounter becomes the unlikely protagonist of a spice.
We do not merely seek out good ingredients. We interpret them through their character, the curiosity they provoke and a certain measure of peculiarity. This is why our shop is less a conventional spice merchant than a cabinet of curiosities—one that can be tasted and steeped.
HOW WE WORK
A Good Blend Begins
with Good Ingredients.
We select our teas, spices and cacao not by provenance alone, but by their flavour, character and contribution to a recipe.
When called for, spices are roasted and ground in our shop, while our teas are blended from our own recipes in small batches. Each batch is considered afresh, ensuring that its balance and aromatic integrity remain intact.
Our intention is never to lose an ingredient in the crowd, but to bring its character into clearer relief.
